University of Dallas senior pitcher Chris Schierhorn of Anchorage earned his third win of the season yesterday in Texas after a remarkable relief appearance against Centenary of Louisiana.

The left-hander threw four innings during a 5-4 win, escaping trouble in the seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth before his team won the game in walk-off fashion.

Schierhorn, of South Post 4 fame, improved to 3-3 and lowered his ERA to 4.89 from 5.36 after this appearance.

He faced 20 batters in four innings, and if not for poor defense behind him, he would have gotten away unscathed. He surrendered an unearned run in the eighth after an error by his first baseman.

Still, Schierhorn got out of a bases-loaded jam in the ninth and a one-on, one-out jam in the tenth.

The Dallas winning run was set up by high school teammate Trevor Allred of Anchorage.

The starting third baseman went 1 for 3 and reached base to lead off the tenth after getting hit by a pitch. He was replaced by a pinch-runner, who eventually scored the deciding run.
