Soldotna slugger Jake Darrow is soaring as a sophomore with Eastern Arizona.

The former Kenai Legion Post 20 all-star leads his team and ranks third in the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference with a .426 batting average.

Darrow has collected 46 hits in 31 games and been walked [10] more than he’s struck out [9].

The Darrow name should ring a bell with Alaska Legion fans. Jake was part of Kenai’s state title in 2012 and little brother Josh was part of the 2016 championship squad.

They are now back together at Eastern Arizona.

Darrow returned to competitive baseball last year for the first time in three years after sitting out as a redshirt at another school and then taking part in a two-year religious mission.

He hit .282 as a freshman before getting back his timing this year and going on a tear.

Darrow leads Eastern Arizona in batting average, RBIs [17], doubles [4] and slugging percentage [.481]. He's also 8-of-10 on stolen bases.
