Hawaii beats Kenai on first day of Northwest Region 7 Tourney

Waipahu, Hawaii, today rapped out 16 hits, including three triples, en route to beating the Kenai Post 20 Twins 12-2 during the first day of the Northwest Region 7 Tournament in Billings, Mont.

The Alaska state champions had nine hits, with Jake Darrow, Josiah Covey and Hector Rivera Jr. each going 2 for 4. Covey and Rivera had the RBIs.

Hawaii scored six times in the first inning and four more in the fourth before ending the game in the eighth inning on the 10-run rule.

Kenai [34-10] will face the Montana-Idaho loser in Friday's elimination game.
