Liam Kiffer was a two-way terror for the Ketchikan Post 3 Kings, driving in the winning run in the first game and pitching a complete game in the second meeting with previously undefeated Eagle River in the Matson Invitational at Bartlett High School.
Kiffer's bunt single scored Justin Albecker to cap an thrilling 5-4 win in 11 innings that forced the if-necessary game, which Ketchikan won 7-2 behind Kiffer's 11 strikeouts.
Coach John Milner's team won nine of its final 10 games this season and finished 15-14 overall.
The Kings also avenged an 11-4 loss to Eagle River earlier in the double-elimination tournament.
In the first game, Eagle River took a 4-2 lead in the top of the 11th on RBIs from Kam Williams and Josh Agron.
They were three outs away from winning the championship.
But Ketchikan answered with three runs in the bottom half of the inning, to force the if-necessary game.
There, Kiffer tossed a six-hitter with double-digit strikeouts and Ketchikan broke the game open with a five-spot in the second inning.
