Former Wasilla Legion Post 35 pitcher Nolan Monaghan threw his first clean inning for NCAA D1 Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee.

The junior transfer worked out of a two-on, one-out jam against Vanderbilt with a double play in the top of the sixth inning of a 7-6 come-from-behind victory.

He began the sixth with a groundout before giving up a single and walk before erasing any damage with a DP.

Dozens of Alaskans are playing college baseball, but Monaghan is one of just five playing at the D1 level this season.

The 6-foot-3 left-hander has faced Kentucky, Bradley and Vanderbilt this season coming out of the bullpen.

Monaghan transferred from Feather River College in California, where he went 6-4 with 53 strikeouts in 76 innings.
