One state title, two teams: Chugiak vs. South

Posted by Van Williams, ALB Media Director | Jul 31, 2013

It makes perfect sense to see South Post 4 and Chugiak Post 33 in the state championship game because they have been the best two teams in the tournament.

South hasn’t given up a run in the last 19 innings.

Chugiak has crushed the competition by a 26-6 margin.

South won the head-to-head series 2-0 this season.

Chugiak is hitting .320 as a team.

Something has to give Thursday in the state title game at 2 p.m. at Mulcahy Stadium. Chugiak is unbeaten in tournament play at 3-0 while South has gone 4-1 after coming through the loser’s bracket.

South needs to win twice, including the if-necessary game at 6 p.m.
