Round 4: South, West, Chugiak, Eagle River post wins

South 9, Dimond 5

The top of the lineup set the tone for the Wolverines as Lian Lincoln, Chase Subitch and Jacob Woodall combined for five hits, five runs, three walks and two RBIs at Bartlett High School.

South built a 7-0 cushion off Dimond ace Jake Andresen after scoring three runs in the first inning, three in the second and another in the third.

Anthony Maioreillo added two RBIs and Reid Brock and Gage Webster each drove in one.

Woodall started and pitched five innings before giving way to Brody Jessee, who pitched two shutout innings of relief.

Dimond's Conor Bates-Janigo went 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs. Quinn Bates-Janigo drove in another run. Andresen, who settled down on the mound after a rough start, scored two runs along with battery mate Jack Dolan.

South leads the all-time series 17-7 since 2005.

Chugiak 12, East 0

Justin Rocco Nevells went 3-for-5 with three RBIs and starting pitcher Sam Hall pitched 5.1 innings as the Mustangs ran wild at Mulcahy Stadium

Chugiak's Billy Smith doubled and drove in two runs.Gus Lewis and Mason Peace also doubled.

Hall allowed just hits on the mound.

East's Ricky Gatter had a base hit and two stolen bases.

Erik White singled and didn't pitch poorly as the starter, as just one of three runs he surrendered in 3.1 innings was earned.

Chugiak leads 29-18 since 1992.

Leland Wilson struck out 13 batters over six innings and the Eagles scored four runs in the second inning to beat the Cougars at Mulcahy Stadium.

It was the first win for the Eagles over Service since 2014

Wilson also got a hit and drew a walk. His battery mate Luke Langnes had two RBIs.

West’s Sam Joling singled, walked, stole a base and scored twice.

Hutton Stiles reached base twice for Service on a single and walk.

Service still leads all-time series 35-14 since 1992.

Deven Wesolowski and Aaron Davis each had two hits and two RBIs in a five-inning game shortened because of the mercy rule at Bartlett High School.

Chase McGraw and Brendan Miles also had two hits apiece. McGraw, Davis, Joshua Linn and Abel Davis scored two runs.

Taylor McCart got Bartlett's only hit.

Pitchers Sterling Retzlaff and Miles combined to strike out seven batters and walk just one.

Eagle River leads the all-time series 14-5 dating back to 2007.
