Kenai’s Paul Steffensen smacked a grand slam, doubled and drove in a career-high six RBIs to help Mesa Community College beat Benedictine 13-5 in Arizona.

It was the first home run of the season for the sophomore left fielder and third in 65 career games.

The former Kenai Legion Post 20 all-star is hitting .364 with 11 RBIs and eight runs in nine games. Five of his eight hits have gone for extra bases.

Last season Steffensen rattled off a 26-game hitting streak, which is believed to be the longest for an Alaska player at the college level.

He owns two 4-hit games, two 5-hit games and two long hitting streaks (26, 15) as he’s lite up opposing pitchers to the tune of a .395 career average.

Steffensen was the 2016 ALB State Tournament MVP when he led the Twins to the state championship.
