Posted by Van Williams, ALB Media Director | Jun 19, 2012
The Taylar Young Memorial Ballpark Dedication Ceremony is Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at South High School.
Please show your support by attending this special event.
Food and drinks will be provided.
The ceremony will include speeches by family members and key members of the Anchorage baseball community.
The Taylar Young Memorial Ballpark is named for the 16-year-old South High baseball player who died in 2009.
This field is truly a field of dreams for the family.
"Taylar’s love for sports, and especially baseball, sparked a burning desire to build a first-class baseball field at South High in his memory," the family wrote to friends and supporters. "And, not only will the baseball field be in his memory for all of us, it is a fine addition to the campus of South High, where the field will be enjoyed for many years to come."
The first game on the new field is Friday night at 6:30 between Service Post 28 and South Post 4.
Mayor Dan Sullivan is expected to throw out the first pitch.
