Texas team coming to Alaska

When Jerome Iltis wanted to take the Castroville, Texas, Post 460 Legion team out of the Lone Star State, he wanted to go big.
So he came to the biggest state.
The Texas team has secured its place in the 2012 Alaska Airlines Tournament Tour and will play in the final three series stops in Wasilla, Kenai and Anchorage.
“The team has rarely traveled outside our region in Texas; never outside the state,” he said. “Our team is from Castroville and other very small Texas towns.”
Now these boys will be traveling more than 4,000 miles to take on Alaska’s best.
“I suspect many don’t comprehend what an awesome opportunity this is,” said Iltis, the team’s general manager.
Castroville is the second Outside team to commit to coming to Alaska this summer, joining Dirtbags Baseball Post 795 of Strongsville, Ohio.
“I’m most looking forward to meeting Sarah Palin and catching a 50-pound king salmon on the Kenai River … and, of course, our team playing some talented teams,” Iltis said.
