Charlton Ferriera pitched beautifully in Game 1 of the Adult League City Tournament championship series Saturday night at Mulcahy Stadium.

The left-hander allowed just three hits and struck out six to lead the No. 1-seeded Titans to a 5-1 victory over the No. 2-seeded Hornets. He went the distance, carrying his shutout bid into the eighth inning.

The defending champion Titans took a 1-0 lead in the best-of-3 series, looking to win their fourth consecutive championship.

Titans cleanup hitter David Breck got the scoring started in the first inning with a two-run double. Aaron Miller made it 5-0 in the third inning with a two-run single.

Breck finished 2-for-4. Kyle Madden was 2-for-3 with a walk and run scored.

Hornets starter Jason Hart pitched well in defeat. He didn’t allow a run for the final six innings.

Taylor Reed delivered the lone run for the Hornets with a sac fly that scored Trevor Harrison.

Game 2 is Sunday at 2 p.m. at Mulcahy Stadium.

If needed, Game 3 is Monday at 7 p.m.
