He’s the league’s best hitter on the last-place team, so you know opponents try to pitch around Soldotna’s Jake Darrow of Eastern Arizona College.

It doesn’t matter.

Darrow still wins most one-on-one battles.

The Alaskan leads the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference with a .413 batting average after 43 games.

Eastern Arizona College sits 14th in the ACCAC with a 6-20 record and owns a 16-27 overall record.

Darrow is also among the league leaders with a .452 on-base percentage.

The sophomore center fielder is 62-for-150 at the plate with 23 RBIs, 22 runs and 13 stolen bases.

The former Kenai Legion Post 20 star owns a two-point lead in the race for the ACCAC batting crown with two weeks left in the regular season.
